How We Work

Brownstone Tutors offers two types of academic coaching:

Test Prep SAT ACT ISEE SSAT SHSAT AP

Subject Tutoring MATH SCIENCE WRITING LANGUAGES HISTORY HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCE

With both test prep and subject tutoring we follow some general rules of thumb:

• We come to you. Unless otherwise arranged, all tutoring is done in the student's home.
• Our standard session is 75 minutes long. Experience has taught us that adding an extra 15 minutes to the standard hour-long session greatly enhances its overall effectiveness.
• We expect that students will meet with their tutors for at least one session per week.

Our tutors will travel anywhere in Manhattan, almost anywhere in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, and to some locations in Westchester, Bergen, and Nassau counties.
