Act Prep Tutoring With Brownstone Tutors: The Basics

ACT Test Prep Tutoring Program

  • We begin the ACT Prep process with an assessment of each student. This includes a review of performance on previous standardized tests, as well as a diagnostic interview with each new student.
  • Every student is different. That is why we take considerable pains to match the student with the tutor who is most suitable to his or her temperament and needs.
  • Once we have made a good match, regular tutoring sessions begin. The typical session is 75 minutes long. And, because again, every student is different, we do our best to tailor the sessions to each student's individual needs, adapting our approach to the particular student rather than adhering to a rigid formula.
  • Students should meet with their tutors at least once a week. (ACT prep is a lot like physical training – consistency and persistence are the keys to success.) Ideally, students will begin preparation 6-12 months before they take the test.
  • At the end of each session, students will be assigned homework. It is essential that they complete it. It is very difficult to improve on the ACT without a considerable amount of practice.
