ISEE Prep
ISEE Prep With Brownstone Tutors: The Basics
- We begin the ISEE Prep process with an assessment of each student. This includes a review of performance on previous standardized tests, as well as a diagnostic interview.
- Every student is different. That is why we take considerable pains to match the student with the tutor who is most suitable to his or her temperament and needs.
- Once we have made a good match, regular tutoring sessions begin. The typical session is 75 minutes long. And because, again, each student is different, we do our best to tailor the sessions to each student’s individual needs, adapting our approach to the particular student rather than adhering to a rigid formula.
- Students should meet with their tutors at least once a week. (ISEE prep is a lot like physical training – consistency and persistence are the keys to success.) Ideally, students will begin preparation at least four months before they take the test.
- At the end of each session, students will be assigned homework. It is essential that they complete it. It is very difficult to improve on the ISEE without a considerable amount of practice.
- We strongly recommend that students preparing for upper level ISEE sign up to take at least one SSAT, as well as the SHSAT – two tests that are similar in both style and intent to the ISEE – before they take the ISEE.
