Joshua Brown
Joshua Brown graduated magna cum laude from Harvard with a degree in history and political science. As an undergraduate he taught SAT courses for the Princeton Review. His tutoring career dates back to 1993, when he moved to New York to study US history at Columbia. He is the founder of Brownstone Tutors.
Claire Catenaccio
Claire Catenaccio received her A.B. magna cum laude with highest honors in Classics from Harvard University in 2007, and completed her M.Phil. with distinction in Classics at Oxford in 2009, where she was also awarded a teaching certification. She is currently working towards a doctorate in Classics at Columbia University, focusing on Homer and Ancient Greek tragedy. Claire loves teaching Latin, especially Vergil, as well as literature, writing, and the SAT.
Jason Gardner
Jason Gardner attended Regis High School and Harvard College. He graduated from Harvard with a B.A., cum laude, in sociology and economics. Since 2003, he has been tutoring students at the elementary-, middle- and high-school level. His areas of expertise include math, statistics, physics, economics, and SAT prep.
Jocelyn Greene
Jocelyn Greene graduated with high honors from Wesleyan University, where she studied English and Spanish literature. She also received an MFA in acting from the Tisch School at NYU. She has been working as a tutor since 2003. Her areas of expertise are anything to do with Spanish Language, the theater, and the high school admission tests – ISEE, SHSAT, SSAT, and the Hunter Exam.
Adam Brown
Adam Brown (no relation to Joshua Brown) is a graduate of Dalton and Princeton, where he earned a B.A. in history and African American studies. He also received an MFA in creative writing from Brooklyn College. Since 2002 he has been teaching and tutoring English, history, and writing and has prepared numerous students for the SAT, ACT, and ISEE exams.
Obhi Hazarika
Obhi Hazarika earned his BA from Wesleyan University in 2005 with degrees in Biology and Philosophy. He has five years of experience in youth services, mentoring and teaching high school math (algebra through precalculus), science (biology and chemistry), writing, and study skills, and is also adept at preparing students for a variety of standardized tests, including the SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests, and the MCAT.
Neil Herriot
Neil Herriot graduated form Harvard with a B.A. in mathematics. His areas of expertise include math, statistics, physics, economics, and standardized test-prep. He has been tutoring and teaching math at the middle-school, high-school and college level since 2003.
Claire Lehmann
Claire Lehmann graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She majored in visual and environmental studies, with a heavy dose of Latin. A tutor since 2003, her areas of expertise include Latin, history, college admissions essays, and the ISEE.
Jon Maffie
Jon Maffie received a B.A. in biology, chemistry, and psychology from Cornell, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is currently pursuing an M.D./Ph.D. at NYU. He has been tutoring high school and college students in math and science (biology, chemistry, and physics) since 2004.
Katie McNabb
Katie McNabb graduated from Dartmouth College where she studied psychology, music, and English. After working for two years at a San Francisco based hedge fund, she returned to New York in September of 2009 to pursue a degree in electrical engineering at the Grove School. Her areas of tutoring expertise include prep for the SAT, SSAT, ISEE as well as math and writing.
Bill Oliver
Bill Oliver received a B.A. in anthropology, summa cum laude, from Princeton, an M.A. in cinema studies from NYU, and an M.F.A. from the American Film Institute. Since 1999, he has been tutoring elementary-, middle- and high-school students in English, history, math, SAT, SSAT, and the ISEE.
Benjamin Brown
Benjamin Brown (brother of Adam, no relation to Joshua or Matthew) graduated from Dalton and Wesleyan University, where he received a B.A. with high honors in mathematical economics. His areas of tutoring expertise include math, physics, and economics, as well as SAT prep. He has been tutoring since 2002.
Alex Plakantonakis
Alex Plakantonakis is currently completing a Ph.D. in molecular neuroscience and biophysics at Princeton, where he also earned an M.A. in biochemistry. A high honors graduate of Queens College, he has won numerous academic and teaching awards, both as an undergraduate and as a graduate student. Since 2001 he has been tutoring high-school and college students in the following subject areas: biology, chemistry, physics, and math.
Cara Sheffler
Cara Sheffler graduated magna cum laude from Princeton with a B.A. in comparative literature. An accomplished linguist, she tutors French, Italian, and (very rarely) Old Provencal. A tutor since 2004, she is adept at preparing students for the SAT, ISEE, and other standardized tests.
Dan Wilde
Dan Wilde is a native of Guildford, England. He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge, with an M.A. in philosophy and theology. He lives in Manhattan and has been tutoring and teaching since 2003. His specialties include the ISEE, SSAT, SAT, elementary- and middle-school math, and everything literary.
Matthew Brown
Matthew Brown (brother of Joshua Brown) received his B.A. in history from Princeton and is currently completing his Ph.D. in US history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (he lives in New York). He has been teaching and tutoring since 1999. His areas of expertise are history, writing, and the SAT.
